How does Gear2Peer work?

List your gear, or browse and rent gear from others near you. Everything is pickup/drop-off based — no shipping required.

What kind of gear can I list?

Skis, snowboards, splitboards, touring gear, avalanche safety equipment, camping gear, climbing gear (No Ropes!) , and more.

How do I know if someone is trustworthy?

Users verify their identity and build trust through reviews. We’re also working on improved verification tools and community features.

Is the gear insured?

Not at this stage. We're currently working on partnerships to offer optional protection — for now, trust and communication are key.

Can I cancel a rental?

Yes, but please try to give as much notice as possible. Each listing may have different cancellation policies.

Where do I pick up or return gear?

Pickup and drop-off locations are coordinated directly between the renter and the lender. Meet in a public, safe location. Many local police departments have designated exchange areas, which we endorse and recommend.

How do I get paid?

Payments are made securely through our partner stripe, and you’ll receive your payout shortly after the rental is completed.

Do you offer shipping?

Nope! Gear2Peer is 100% local — gear exchanges happen face-to-face.

What happens if something gets damaged or lost?

Users are responsible for the gear they rent. We recommend discussing expectations before the rental begins and documenting the condition with photos. We are actively looking at insurance options. For now if you have a problem, you may submit a complaint and our team will help mediate a solution. Renters agree to our terms and conditions, which hold them responsible for the equipment in cases of misuse.
